The man killed this week after being hit by a train at Standish Junction near Stonehouse has been named locally as Stroud man Stephen Kelly.

Although yet to be officially identified by the Gloucestershire coroner, Stroud People understands that Mr Kelly, of Walkley Hill, Rodborough was killed when the 7.11am First Great Western Gloucester to Swindon service passed by Standish Junction at about 7.22am on Wednesday.

Tributes to Mr Kelly have been paid on the Facebook page of the Prince Albert in Rodborough - a pub at which he was a regular.

Jessamine Valentine wrote: "Such sad news. Sending big love and hugs to all the Albert family. I've got such good memories of Steve - his spirit will live on in the pub for a long time yet! Xxxxx"

And Leigh Wild said: "Thank you to everyone for all your lovely messages and support. The world has lost a heart of gold and we'll never forget him. x"
