Among the highlights of the 10-day festival, which has something for everyone, is an evening with iconic singer-songwriter Julie Felix on May 19 and the talk What happened when the Romans left? by TV archaeologist Prof Mark Horton two days later, both in the Town Hall.   This year's Badminton Horse Trials, which were due to take place next weekend, have been cancelled due to the heavy rain. The international event, which takes place every year just over the May Bank Holiday weekend just a few miles outside Nailsworth, has been cancelled this morning for the first time since 1987.   More details have been released about the Diamond Jubilee celebration walk organised by Horsfall House (Minchinhampton Centre for the Elderly) on Sunday 20th May. This picture of the map of the route was in a shop window in Nailsworth town centre this week and shows the route. It will go partly through Gatcombe Wood and round Longfords Lake, with the permission of HRH Princess Anne who is the patron of Horsfall House. ...

  The Lloyds TSB branch in Nailsworth town centre was closed this afternoon due to a mysterious security incident. I visited the branch on Fountain Street this afternoon to pay in a cheque and was told by a very nice lady that the bank was shut "for security reasons". It was around 3pm when I visited and she said it would be closed for 15 to 20 minutes. I'm going back tomorrow so I have no idea what the security incident...

  Yet another sighting of a mystery animal near Nailsworth has raised expectations that DNA tests will show a deer was mauled by a black cat.
